Longford score narrow win in O’Byrne Cup

Understrength Longford scored a narrow one point win over Athlone I.T. in the O’Byrne Cup Senior Football Tournament Round 1 clash at Leo Casey Park, Ballymahon on Sunday.

Trailing by 1-8 to 0-8 with just 13 minutes of normal time remaining, Longford produced a strong finish to register five points on the trot to clinch a quarter-final tie at home to another college side DCU on Sunday next.
