Granard capture Intermediate ‘A’ title in dramatic finish

Mulleady Group Intermediate ‘A’ Football Championship Final

Granard St. Mary’s . . . . . . 0-11 Cashel . . . . . . 0-10

A brilliantly struck ‘45’ from the boot of Stephen Lynch in the second minute of stoppage time earned Granard a dramatic last gasp win over Cashel in the Intermediate ‘A’ Football Championship Final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday and it was no more than St. Mary’s deserved as they were unquestionably the better team.

Unlucky not to score at least one goal in the first half when a fisted attempt from Fergus Kelly hit the post, Granard ended up kicking a total of 11 wides as compared to just 2 for Cashel during the course of this ding-dong battle but the north Longford club still done just enough to emerge victorious when a draw was looking the likely outcome.
