Glenn Ryan knows that there is still plenty of room for improvement

Longford manager Glenn Ryan admitted it wasn’t pretty and there’s a lot to improve on but the main objective was achieved on Saturday evening last in Breffni Park; a win against Cavan to make it full points from two games in Division 3.
“We have still a huge amount of work to do,” Ryan told the Leader. “It was poor football and we have a lot to improve upon but we got the victory.. We are disappointed with the level of our performance but not with the effort that was put into it. The players worked hard in the second half and probably had a bit more direction.”
After a very poor first half, Longford trailed by a point at the break (0-4 to 0-3) and Ryan decided to make changes. Donal McElligott and James McGivney came on for the second half and their introduction proved crucial. “We won’t succeed in anything unless there are fellas on the bench making a huge contribution,” said the Longford boss. “It’s great that they did. It’s testament to those fellas that they are prepared to keep working and when they do come in they make an impact.”
