Cnoc Mhuire U-14s in complete control

Cnoc Mhuire, Granard continued their good run in the North Leinster Post-Primary Schools U-14 ‘C’ Football Championship with a comprehensive victory over Co Offaly outfit Killina CS in Rahan recently. The winners dominated the midfield battle with Paul Leonard and Ruairi Harkin in fine form and soon began to make their superiority tell on the scoreboard.

Oisin Pierson, Cian Madden and P.J. Masterson scored points in quick succession and when Masterson crashed the ball to the net, the writing was on the wall for Killina. The Granard side continued to press home their advantage with fine scores by Dylan Logan, Pierson, Harkin and Conor Brady to build up a commanding half-time advantage of 2-11 to 1-0.

The second half was a tighter affair with Killina determined to restore some pride, but Cnoc Mhuire weathered the storm with Callum Mussi, Niall O’Hara and Thomas Doyle working tirelessly to stifle the opposition’s attacking threat. Dylan Logan’s fine fisted goal restored authority for the Granard school and they finished the game with some style with Daire Duggan hitting the pick of the late scores.
