Vinny Yeates, a florist from Kilkenny, has proven he is the best of the bunch after fending off tough competition and winning the honour to represent Ireland at the grand finale of the Interflora Florist of the Year 2013 competition.

He will now join seven other top florists from across the UK to fight for the coveted title at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park next summer.

During the grand final, Vinny, who has ambitions to represent Ireland and the UK at the Interflora Europa Cup, will have to create a series of stunning floral designs in front of a live audience at. Each of the competitors creations will be awarded points by a panel of judges including members of the UK Floristry Judges Guild.

Talking about the challenge ahead Vinny said: I was really pleased with my achievements in the heats. In the final Ill be up against some very experienced florists but am confident in my own abilities. I hope to do myself and Ireland proud.

The Interflora Florist of the Year competition is held every two years and gives florists the opportunity to continually develop their exceptional floristry skills and creativity; allowing them to stay one step ahead in the industry.
