Moyne Community School

November Services: Last week students attended the November Remembrance services in the library. This is a time to reflect and remember those who have passed in our lives. Thanks to Ms Flanagan for organising these special services.

An Triail: 4th and TY students attended a production of An Triail in Sligo on Thursday 15th of November. This trip was of great educational value to the students and brought this part of the Irish course alive for the students. Thanks to Sheridan and Ms Rudden for organising the trip.

Merchant of Venice: Ms Maxwell’s third year English class travelled to the Helix in Dublin last week to see a production of William Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice.’ This was a great production with an opportunity for some of our own students to get involved in the action on stage! This was a great day out and really brought the play to life. Thanks to Ms Maxwell!

Macbeth: Fourth year and leaving cert students travelled to the Helix in Dublin to see a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, a core part of their leaving cert English course. The trip was organised by Ms Brindley. Thanks for Ms Brindley and Ms Flanagan for accompanying the students on the day. The students really enjoyed the production.

CAO Night: On Thursday night last MS Wrynn and Ms Killian held a CAO information night for the parents of Leaving Cert students. This was an opportunity for parents to find out more about the CAO process and was a chance to ask important questions about this crucial time for Leaving Cert students. Thanks to the careers department for organising the presentation.

Boys GAA: Well done to the U16 boy’s GAA team who drew with St Finian’s of Mullingar last week.

U15Boy’s Soccer: The U15 boy’s soccer team secured a draw on Wednesday last with Mullingar Community College. The competition was fierce on the day in a close and exciting match. Well done lads.

Junior Rugby: Congratulations to the mighty Moyne junior Rugby team who were victorious on Thursday 15th of November in the Junior Semi Final. This is the first time the team has reached such heights and they are now eagerly anticipating the final. The final score was 19-12 with trys scored by Paul Donnelly, Izu Chiemeka and Ray Magarahan and 2 conversions scored by Mark Hughes. Well done lads, this is a great achievement!

Moyne Mile: The green school’s committee invite and encourage all students and staff to join the Moyne mile every Friday at lunchtime!

YSI: The YSI are hard at work these days, they carried out surveys in all year groups last week to find out what books students might like to see in our newly refurbished library! Keep up the good work guys!
