The Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu International karate club is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a very special schedule of events taking place across the Midlands this week.

This Friday, the Longford Arms Hotel will play host to the opening ceremony and club demonstrations at 7pm. A number of very high profile Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu experts will be in attendance, including one of America’s leading karate experts, Sensei Terry Maccarrone, who is flying in from New York especially for the occasion.

The session will also be attended by Sensei Bob Yarnell, Sensei Dan Smith and Sensei Patrick Beaumont in what is a great achievement for the Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu clubs here.

The Matsubayashi Shorin Ryu clubs are thriving in the Midlands at the moment with over 15 clubs active. On Friday night these clubs will demonstrate for the guests of honour before an exhibition by the adult and junior black belts.

On Sunday, there will be a dinner dance held in the Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule at 8.30pm for all current and past students in what promises to be a fun-filled evening. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for this event can contact annedevlinkarate@gmail.com.
