Longford's Backstage Theatre to receive €150k from Arts Council

Longford’s Backstage Theatre has come in for a massive funding boost today, Tuesday, after the Arts Council announced a €65.1 million investment across Ireland for 2017.

A multi-disciplinary arts centre based in Longford town, Backstage is set to receive funding to the tune of €154,000.

The 212-seat theatre was established in 1995 under the auspices of the local GAA club and continues to host all manner of community events, exhibitions and shows, as well as the best of Irish music, art and theatre.

The Arts Council’s Strategy, ‘Making Great Art Work’ has particular focus on local festivals, individual artists, work for children and young people, local authorities and community-based arts practice, and therefore, groups matching those descriptions have received significant increases in investment.
