Longford organisations receive almost €23,000 in Lottery funding

Cllr Peggy Nolan has welcomed the news that two local organisations are set to benefit, to the tune of almost €23,000, from the Department of Health Lottery Funding.

St Christopher's Services, Longford is set to receive €20,000 for a wheelchair-friendly bus, while Arthritis Ireland, Longford will get €2,750 to fund dance classes to aid mobility.

“The classes will go a long way to keeping the members mobile,” Cllr Nolan said, adding that €20,000 for St Christopher's was a 'huge' boost for the organisation.

“It's time Longford stood up and was counted,” Cllr Nolan added. “I'm just absolutely delighted."

Longford/Westmeath TD, Deputy Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, also welcomed the funding, which also benefited five Westmeath-based organisations.

“These organisations provide an incredible amount of services across a range of activities and I am delighted that this funding has been awarded today which will go some way to assisting them in meeting their everyday needs,” Deputy Moran commented.
