Happy birthday to Sara Jane Moran, Killenaugh, Rathowen, who celebrated her 18th birthday on Tuesday, 8 October.

Sympathy

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the Leavy family from Leney on the death of Paddy Leavy. May he rest in peace .

Park open

The playground and new community park are open. Bikes, go karts and dogs are not allowed in the new community park or walkway. There is CCTV 24/7. We would ask all people using the facility to enjoy and respect it.

Gathering

Streete gathering will take place on October 26th and committee member Kevin Brady is asking people to help with the parish genealogy. The school reunion is a great way to ask all who are coming to bring along any photos of any family friends, neighbours and even buildings,kevin is hoping to collect as much memoriabilia as possible so he can make a map of our parish townland by townland to show future generations where people once lived and how our parish evolved. If you would like to write your memories of a friend or people no longer with us feel free. Good luck to Avril and Sinead on Saturday next when Clann Gaels U12 play Loughnavalley. Congratulations on reaching the final. Best wishes to all the players and to our Rathowen girls, Maeve Greene, Jenny Kelly, Karen Kelly,and Ciara Maguire. Good luck to Inny Gaels who play in the Shield final on Saturday next, best of luck to Caolan and all the players. Padraig and staff.

Well done

Well done to Breda, Padraig and Ciaran Walshe who took part in the half marathon in London last weekend. Breda is a member of our staff and Padraig and Ciaran are past pupils of the school. Well done to all. I would like to express my thanks to Daire O’Connor and Caolan Fulham who trained the school team on Thursday last, a great evening was had by all and it was great to to see such a huge turnout on such an inclement evening.

Darts

The north Westmeath darts league starts on the 18th October, local teams to follow are Wagon Wheel and Western Gem, Ballinalack. More updates to follow.

Vintage Club

Legan vintage club held there raffle in the village house on Saturday night, 5th October, the winners are as follows - Winner of the tractor, Kevin Kelly, Glen, Mostrim; TV was won by Kaitlyn Dolan, Drumshambo; Weekend away went to Una Manning, Rathowen. We will be presenting these prizes and a cheque to disabled people of Longford in Ferrick’s Hotel on October 19th. Entertainment on the night, admission is free, all are welcome. The committee of Legan Vintage club would like to express their sincere thanks to everyone who supported and helped us out along the way, Thanks.
