5km Fun Run/Walk

The Tesco Annual 5km Run/Walk will be held in the Mall Complex on Sunday, October 20. All proceeds in aid of AWARE. Registration on the day from 10am. €10 per adult - €5 per child. Medals for everyone who participates. Great prizes for all category winners.

Social Dance Classes

Social Dance classes will commence in J’s Hotel, Mohill on Wednesday, October 16 from 8pm to 10pm. Admission €6. Tutor is All Ireland Champion Mary Brady.

Newtownforbes MSRI Karate

Training continues every Monday evening in the GAA complex from 7-8pm with new members always welcome. It is great to see so many students committed to training and our focus for the next number of weeks will be the upcoming grading. As always only those students who consistently attend training will be eligible for consideration for grading. If any student wishes to attend extra classes please speak with Sensei Ann as there are options available. A big welcome to our newest students Simone, Maddison, Senan, Evan, Ciara and Jack. Longford Toastmasters

Longford Toastmasters are looking for new members to join our club. They meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month in The Longford Arms Hotel from 8.20pm until 10.30pm.The next meeting takes place on October 17. Cywalkleathon 2013

The Newtownforbes Friends of Longford Dyslexia Workshop/St. Christopher’s Autism Unit are holding a sponsored Cywalkleathon (cycle, walk, run, bed push) on Sunday, October 27. The route is Newtownforbes/Tarmonbarry/Rooskey – Newtownforbes (25 miles). Sponsorship cards are available from Mike O’Reilly, Castle Inn, Newtownforbes or entrance fee €20. Fright Fest Fundraiser

Fancy Dress Fundraiser in aid of St Christopher’s Autism Unit and Longford Dyslexia will be held in the Complex, Newtownforbes on Thursday, October 31 from 5pm – 8pm. Children €5 - adults free. Music, facepainting, games, etc. Prize for best dressed boy/girl.

Clonguish Through the Ages

As part of the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of St Mary’s Church, built in 1864 the Parish Pastoral Council is proposing that there be a photo exhibition of photos of parish life, sporting, social and religious, through the ages. This exhibition will probably be put on in the Parish Hall sometime in 2014. Now is the time to start looking for old photographs – from the time the camera was invented! All photos will be returned to their owners.
