Though Deaf Sports Ireland receive funding from the Irish Sports Council, their funds for international competitions are limited. It is estimated that it will cost approximately €80,000 to send the Deaf Irish Team to the 2013 Deaflympics taking place in Bulgaria this July. The Deaflympics is an internationally renowned competition which gives athletes who are deaf or hard of hearing a chance to compete without communication barriers.

The Fun Run - or walk - will begin at 10:30am on Saturday April 27th in Phoenix Park. The entry fee is €20 per person and all proceeds will go towards sending the athletes to the Deaflympics. Sponsorship packs can be provided to those interested, but it is not necessary to seek sponsorship to take part.
