It seems that the ‘Christmas Dinner Plate’ exercised its influence on Club 55 members’ attendance on Thursday last, as only 22 enthusiasts turned up to play 12 holes of golf under comfortable weather conditions on the day.

Performance was good for the astute golfers, especially for Tony Gibson, Gerry Lynch and Ken Sheridan as they recorded 26pts each. The idea of being ‘Hampered by the Club 55 presentation’ before Christmas was of no consequence to Tony, Gerry and Ken, as they played excellent golf with the hope of winning one of the two valuable prizes kindly sponsored by Joe Durkin. Tony Gibson emerged as the top performer when he recorded a birdie on the 8th hole and 21pts over the first nine. Gerry Lynch was consistent for most of his game but will have to explain how he got ‘slightly hampered’ when playing the 6th hole! Ken Sheridan was performing well for most of his game but afterwards wanted to know how he could have overlooked trying to play the 18th hole! Brendan King was another ‘birdie man’ as he recorded one on the 11th! It appears that the easiest hole golf-wise for the group was the 4th where 12 pars were recorded and this was followed on the 8th where 9 more were registered. A three-card-trick scenario was invoked somehow for the winning of minor prizes as Mick Egan, Tommy Dolan and Dermie Gray will have to explain! Denis Madigan was another winner of a minor prize. It’s Club 55 who are sponsoring this week’s prizes and there are prizes for the top three performers on the day.
