Work on the proposed redevelopment of a north Longford local authority housing estate is expected to get underway within weeks

Cllr PJ Reilly revealed tendering documentation for the €2m revamp of Trumra Road in Granard have been sent to government officials in Dublin ahead of the anticipated appointment of a contractor.

It follows confirmation by the Leader in April that department approval had been given for the project.

Cllr Reilly said the announcement could not have come at a better time for the estate’s residents and the wider Granard town public in general.

“This is good news for Trumra Road and Granard town. The Council hope for a contractor to be allocated and for the work to commence before the end of this year,” he said.
