What’s in the Leader this week?

This week’s Longford Leader is brimming with news, views and events from around the region.

On page 3, Daráine Mulvihill, daughter of former GAA Director General Liam Mulvihill speaks about her upcoming stint reporting on the 2012 Paralympics for Channel 4.

Also on page 3, we cover the story of brave little Max Wenman, a two-year-old who has cancer and for whom a special fundraiser will be held in PVs on October 5. His family are asking for your support to help this little man get on the road to recovery.

Hundreds of runners and walkers descended on Longford on Sunday to take part in this year’s Marathon and we have two pages of photos and results from the event.

We have news about Arva slimmers, Kenagh walkers and Marquee revellers as well as the latest news about St Mel’s Cathedral.

This week’s photo specials include two pages of glitz and glamour from the Ballymahon Mercy Graduation Ball as well as a report and photos from the County Shoot held at Moydow Gun Club.

We went on a ‘Blind Date’ in Newtowncashel as Celebrity Banisteoir heats up out there ahead of their big game on Sunday.

In the sports world, the Leader features a preview of the Longford Ladies match against Armagh in the Intermediate All-Ireland Semi Final and full coverage, analysis and photos of the Senior Championship Quarter Finals also feature this week.

Following a successful competition at the recent Dublin Horse Show, CSF Whiterock Cruise, owned by Anne Gannon, Whiterock, is to represent Ireland at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, Belgium and the Leader takes a sneak preview at the horse’s chances at the upcoming event.
