Outgoing Chairman Enda Stenson, who served for the past 4 years, was roundly thanked for his outstanding stewardship of the Millennium Choir, accomplished with a great deal of humour and understanding.
Sen Murray, outgoing Treasurer / Front of House Manager since the Choir's inception in late 1998, received lengthy applause for his unparalleled services.
Also 'retiring' is the incomparable Joe Moore, Artistic Director and one of the Founders of the Millennium Choir. Joe's artistic insight, organisational skills and sense of humour will be missed but he has graciously promised to be available for consultation.
The very popular Fintan Farrelly (St. Mel's Cathedral and the County Choir) will be continuing as Concert Accompanist / Orchestral Director.
Kudos for extraordinary services to the Choir over the years were also expressed to Joe Flynn and the Staff of the Carrick-on-Shannon Community School, Pauline Moran (Social Secretary), Jim Gorman and the Breffni Players Drama and Musical Society for their ongoing support and assistance, and of course to the Musical Directors Monica O'Gorman (Conductor) and Elizabeth O'Halloran (Rehearsals) and Sr. Nora Keenan in Mohill whose training of the Rynn Singers has provided a number of Millennium Choir members.
Having given five performances in 2006, the Choir will be taking a break until after the New Year when it will resume rested and full of commitment and enthusiasm. Because of the many enquiries from interested singers, it is planned to hold auditions in December for possible new members. Dates will be announced when set.
