TDs under fire over JPC attendance

Leinster House representatives from the Longford-Westmeath constituency came in for criticism this week for their attendance records at Joint Policing Committee (JPC) meetings.

Cllr Eddie Kelly, speaking at last week’s Granard meeting, said he couldn’t understand why TDs were not in a position to turn up on a more regular basis.

“I have to say I am very disappointed at the representation we are getting at these JPC’s. I think it is an absolute disgrace. John O’Mahony (Fine Gael TD) and other TDs down the country go to theirs,” he said.

Cllr Kelly was not alone in raising his own concerns, a sentiment which was supported by Independent Cllr Tommy Stokes.
