Singer with Mohill links hopes to represent Ireland at Eurovision

A young singer with strong Mohill connections is vying to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Kasey Smith is one of five hopefuls who will appear on the Late Late Show tonight, where the winning song will be decided. She will perform her entry, ‘Kiss Me’, live on the programme.

Kasey’s grandmother, Bernadette Smith, formerly Conlon, is from Rosalawn in Mohill, and she has aunts in Dromod, Bornacoola, Mohill, and Leitrim village, and an uncle in Rosdann. Music runs in the family – her grandfather, Pat Smith and uncle, PJ Smith had number one singles in Ireland.

The winning Eurovision act will be chosen using a combination of a public vote and a regional jury vote.
