Road fatality in Drumlish

A 59-year-old pedestrian died in a road traffic collision in the townland of Corrabaun in Drumlish on Sunday evening last. Michael Molloy of Bohey, Drumlish was struck by a passing vehicle at 6.30pm about a quarter of a mile outside Drumlish on the Mohill Road.

Despite the frantic efforts of medics on the roadside, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar where his post mortem was carried out yesterday.

The Mohill Road in Drumlish remained closed until Monday morning last while gardai carried out a forensic collision examination.
