HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Happy 40th Birthday to Joe kelly who celebrated in the Corn Mill in Boherquill, with Friends and family. Joe is a great character and we all know him from working with Philip Moran. We wish you a very Happy Birthday Joe!

LOTTO

No winner of v15,000 lotto. The numbers drawn were 3, 5, 24, 25. There were two 3 number winners and they were, Ray Nea and David Harris. The numbers drawn for the second jackpot of e2100 were 13, 16, 26, 27, and there was no winner of the jackpot. There was one 3 number winner Patricia Murphy. Sellers prize went to Johnny Penrose. The next draw is September 6th and this draw will have two jackpots one for v15,000 and the next for e2,250. The RCD have capped e15,000 jackpot and set up another jackpot which will increase every draw if not won. Your e2 ticket will be entered into both draws. Thank you to all who buy a ticket, you are helping to support local projects and the next big project is to develop the rest of the RCD field into a community park. Tickets can be brought in Sexton's Shop, Rathowen Post Office, Connaughtons Pub and Feericks Hotel, along with several people selling. RATHOWEN WEEKEND FESTIVAL COMMITTEE

Thank you to all the people of the Village and surrounding areas who gave their time and energy that ensured we had an excellent weekend of fun and excitement. Monies raised are going to the Tidy Towns and for next year's Festival. Hope to see you all at the upcoming events planned for the next 12 months. Basil Sexton, Chairman.

ADULT LEARNING

Do you need help with reading, writing, spelling, maths or computers? If you do, please call into the centre or ring us at 043-6686211 and we will do all we can to help. We offer part-time day and evening courses. We are now taking names for courses starting in September/October 2010. The service is free and confidential. Contact: Therese Smyth on 043-6686211. The Adult literacy service is funded by the Department of Education and Science with assistance from the European Social fund as part of the National Development Plan 2007-2013.

LEGAN VINTAGE NOTES

Legan Vintage Club are holding a presentation night on September 11th in Connaughton's Bar Rathowen at 10pm. We will be presenting a cheque to the LARCC centre on the night. Hope to see you all there!

PLAYGROUND

The RCD are asking parents to talk to their children and ask them to have respect for the play equipment and seating in the playground. Please let them know that there are no bikes, footballs, hurling, dogs, bottles allowed in the playground. This is for the safety and enjoyment of all the children who use this wonderful amenity. When all who use the playground treat it with respect it means the amenity will be there for along time for all generations of children.

ST FINTAN'S GAA

First congratulation's to the Under 10 team who played the Downs on Wednesday last great game had by all, also their game on Saturday against Castletown Finea in the North Westmeath finals in Tyrellspass. Training will take place this Friday the 10th at 7 o clock. There will be a meeting with the parents at 8pm after training it is very important that all attend. Also there is a meeting at 9pm straight after for Scor for anyone who wants to take part or just to help out.

O'REILLYS SCHOOL OF DANCING

Is back on in Rathowen Community Centre this Friday 10th at 6.30pm. Any one interested can call to the centre on Friday 10th for anymore information.
