The main stories in this week’s edition of the Longford Leader.

The average home in County Longford is worth under €150,000, according to the Revenue’s new interactive Property Valuation Guide. The service was launched recently to assist homeowners in valuing their properties for the new property tax.

Two separate investigations are underway after shots were fired at houses in the Stonepark and Edgeworthstown areas. Gardaí are also appealing for informtion after a spate of robberies in the Longford town area.

PAWS Animal Rescue have issued a warning to residents in Longford town, after it was discovered bogus collectors had been calling to houses claiming to be collecting money for the charity.

In sport, Longford’s U-21s recorded a famous victory against Dublin the quarter-finals of the Leinster Championship, while the senior team continues to struggle in the National Football League. In soccer, Longford Town have made a perfect start to their season, beating Salthill Devon 5-0 in their league opener, whilst also winnint 2-0 against Athlone Town in the EA Sports Cup.
