A political row is brewing in the County Council after it was revealed that works to install traffic lights at the railway bridge on the Athlone Road in Longford town will take place in the lead up to Christmas.

In sport, Killoe Young Emmets defeated Clonguish to progress to the final of the Leader Cup, where they will meet either Dromard or Longford Slashers. Meanwhile, the Longford GAA All-Star Awards will take place this Saturday night at the Rustic Inn in Abbeyshrule.
