Nomination for Glennon Brothers

The Irish Exporters Association has announced that Longford business Glennon Brothers has been shortlisted for the ‘Manufacturing Exporter of the Year Award’ at this year’s Irish Exporter’s Industry Awards.

The Export Industry Awards 2012 seek to recognise the tremendous achievements of companies who have helped the export led recovery of the Irish economy by boosting Ireland’s total exports of goods to an all-time high in the past year. The ‘Manufacturing Exporter of the Year Award’ aims to reward companies who have sought and developed new export markets within their sector.

Mike Glennon, Glennon Brothers said “We are delighted to have been shortlisted by the Irish Exporters’ Association for this award. Our company has undergone enormous change over the past few years, with the catastrophic collapse of the Irish construction sector. We have fundamentally transformed our business, to now exporting two thirds of our Irish output. To be shortlisted for this award is testament to the flexibility of our dedicated and hard working team, who have worked incredibly hard to find innovative solutions as their traditional markets collapsed.
“As we strive to develop export markets, it is essential that we have continuity of raw material supply. Glennon Brothers is very concerned about the impact of the proposed sale of Coillte felling rights, as they supply over 80 percent of the logs to the sawmills in the Republic of Ireland.”

Through its plants in Ireland and Scotland, Glennon Brothers offers a one-stop-shop solution, supplying both the Irish and UK markets with products for the construction, pallet wood and fencing industries. This one-stop-shop approach ensures the firm continues to push the boundaries of machinery and technology to produce home-grown timber to the highest international standards.
