In this week’s Longford Leader we bring you the first image of the planned new-look St. Mel’s Cathedral.

Gardai are hunting for a gang who mounted an armed raid on Daly’s grocery store in Arva, stealing 7,000 euros worth of cigarettes. The incident is the third in a series of similar raids carried out across Cavan and Monaghan by the gang this week. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cavan Garda station on (049)4335302

In sport, we carry in-depth reports on the all the County Championship openers which took place at the weekend.
