Longford poet to wed in Ardee Castle
He may be renowned for his unique poetry, but Longford man, Enda Murray is about to create a stir of a different kind – this time as he ties the knot to fiancée Ann Marie Kerin in the first ever civil ceremony at Ardee Castle in Co Louth.
Now dubbed the ‘Bard of Ardee’, Enda will wed Ann Marie on Thursday. For his fiancee, it is the perfect fairytale wedding. She grew up in the shadow of the historic castle just across the street!
After being made redundant from his job in Sligo about five years ago, Enda set decided to take a new path in life and he started writing poetry. He went on to compile his now famous books including ‘Back to the Craic’ and ‘Doom and Gloom me Arse’. The he took to the roads of Ireland selling his poems.
In fact it was during one of his trips to Co Louth to sell his book, that he encountered Ann Marie who, in 2008, had moved back from Norwich with her son Eoghan to take care of her uncle Paddy.
“He walked into Suzie’s Deli in Irish Street and started reading his poetry,” laughed the bride to be. “It was very witty; I loved it and that was that.”
