Local firms to build fire station

Cllr Mark Casey.

Cllr Mark Casey.

Only a matter of weeks after it was revealed Lanesboro’s wait for a new, state-of-the-art fire station was finally nearing an end, it’s been announced two local contractors will spearhead its construction over the coming weeks.

James Irwin Construction and Vinny McGowan Metal Fabrication, both from the Lanesboro locality, were officially appointed to the near 4850,000 project this week, leading to a volley of favourable remarks from local representatives.

Cllr Mark Casey said: “Local people will be employed on this so it really is great news for the area.”
