Killoe in the Capital

editorial image

A Dublin pub will be transformed into a little part of Killoe this Friday night, when the Irish House on Francis Street hosts ‘Killoe in the Capital’ – an event celebrating the Longford parish, its people, and its recent sporting successes.

Green and white banners and flags will adorn the Irish House on the night, and the guest of honour will undoubtedly be the Connolly Cup, which will be taken out of the trophy cabinet and brought to Dublin for the occasion.

There will be live music throughout the evening and a slideshow presentation, which will follow the story of Emmet Og’s journey to County Championship success in 2012 – a year which saw the club win an unprecedented 18 titles at various levels. The evening will also see the launch of Killoe’s campaign for The Gathering.

The bar itself, which is famous for its traditional music sessions, has strong connections to the area, being part-owned by Declan and Tom Quinn, sons of Longford Association chairman Gerry Quinn, a Killoe native who has lived in Dublin for many years.

All Longford people are guaranteed a warm welcome on the night, which promises to be full of music, chat and craic. Complementary food will also be served as part of the celebrations, which starts at 8pm.
