Jillian prepares for marathon challenge

Jillian McNulty from Glack in County Longford is about to take part in this year’s Dublin City Marathon as part of the 2012 Spar Spartan Challenge, and is now only one step away from achieving her marathon dream.

Having completed the Dublin Half Marathon in a fantastic time of 3 hours 24 minutes, Jillian has now completed all but one of the entire race series including the Irish Runner 5 Mile, the Fingal 10km and The Frank Duffy 10 mile.

On October 29th, Jillian will line up for the final challenge in the race series, the 2012 Dublin Marathon, which will take them across the city testing their mental and physical stamina in the most gruelling challenge of their lives.

Karl Henry, Spokesperson for the Spar Spartans campaign, said: “The Half Marathon was the biggest challenge to date for our Spartans, but having witnessed them putting in the hard work, I had complete faith in them. The half will have given them a real taste for what marathons are all about.”

Those who wish to follow Jillian’s progress, training runs and blog updates can do so via the website www.spartan.spar.ie or by visiting Spar’s Facebook page. The Spartan judged to have most fully embraced all aspects of the challenge will win a trip for two to New York to spectate at the New York City marathon on November 4th 2012.
