Getting ready for the Longford GOAL Mile
The traditional Longford GOAL Mile on Christmas day will take place as usual at 12 noon from Connolly Barracks, no matter what the weather brings.
The GOAL Mile in Longford town is now part of the local tradition and for some younger participants, it’s as Christmassy as Santy himself.
It started off with a handful of enthusiastic supporters about 15 years ago and has grown every year to well over a hundred participants. The popular fundraiser sees all sorts gather to support GOAL’s work with the poorest of the poor in the developing world. Some run, some jog but most walk and have a friendly chat. Every Christmas morning sees an increase in the amount of young people participating which is most encouaraging.
While every cent counts, you don’t need a sponsorship card but if you want one, contact Tiernan Dolan on 087 9896269.
The route is exactly the same as previous years: Connolly Bks, Bridge St, Main St, New St, Ballymahon St, and Main St, Bridge St., back to Connolly Bks. Make it a Christmas to remember this year by doing Longford’s GOAL Mile.
