Gardai investigate alleged Loch Gowna sexual assault

Edenderry gardai are seeking assistance in relation to the attacks.

Gardai in Cavan have launched an investigation on foot of an alleged sexual assault that took place in Loch Gowna last Wednesday (January 11) evening.

Detectives were staying tight-lipped about the incident this week and refused to release any details about what may have transpired in the days since.

One of the reasons gardai were keen to distance themselves from any questioning this week is because the alleged incident and subsequent investigation is extremely sensitive.

Despite no details having emerged as to the identity of those involved, it’s believed the victim is a young girl, although gardai neither confirmed or denied this when contacted by the Leader this week.
