Garda seek public’s help with burglaries and assault

There were a number of burglaries in Longford town in the past week. Madden’s Dentist’s Surgery on Keon’s Terrace was broken into on Saturday February 11 between 2am and 6am. Entry was made through the rear window. Damage was done to the interior of the lobby but nothing was taken.

Another break-in occurred at Keon’s Terrace in Longford Town between 07.30pm on Feb 10 and 2pm on Feb 11. Entry was gained through a rear door. A small sum of cash was taken and considerable damage was done to the inside of the house.

A house in Cluian Ard, Ardnacassa in Longford Town was broken into after the rear door was forced open. Nothing was taken but the house was ransacked between the hours of 1pm on Feb 11 and 12.20am on Sunday 12.

A builder’s yard and offices, Dublin Road, Longford were broken into between 6.30pm Friday 10 and 11am Sunday 12 February. The alarm was successfully deactivated and the phone lines were cut. Entry was gained through a rear door. A safe was broken into and a number of master keys for diggers were stolen. 5 sheds in the yard were also broken into.

Gardai in Longford are asking for the public’s assistance on the above break-ins. Anyone who noticed anything strange between the hours listed are asked to call Longford Garda station on 043 33 46741.

Meanwhile, Gardai in Longford are currently investigating the serious assault of a man in Longford last Saturday (Feb 12).

A 34-year-old male was badly assaulted, receiving cuts and bruises to his face. He was brought to Mullingar Regional Hospital where he was later released.

The attack occurred in Auburn Court in Longford Town between 9am and 1pm on Saturday 11 February. The gardai ask anyone with information to contact them on 043 33 46741.
