Olympic silver medalist, John Joe Nevin is to make an appearance at the Little Max fundraiser in PVs this Friday night.

The Olympic boxer told organisers on Monday evening that he would be in attendance and was bringing a signed pair of boxing gloves for auction on the night.

The fundraiser in aid of Ballinalee boy Max Wenman, who in July was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that affects the nervous system, will take place in PVs in Longford town this Friday (October 5th).

Buckets loads of musical entertainment is guaranteed and those in attendance now have the opportunity to win a pair of John Joe Nevin’s boxing
gloves!

Max, whose brave story was featured in the Longford Leader recently, is currently between hospitals in Mullingar and Crumlin’s Hospital For Sick Children as he undergoes an 18-month-long treatment programme.

The first of two Longford-based fundraisers takes place this Friday at PVs in the Red Room and the Blue Nightclub.

The event sees host of local acts take to the stage including Emma Sweeney, Sean Hussey, Driftwood and headliners Recoil.

Other highlights of the night will include sets from DJs from Shannonside FM and iRadio, along with a monster raffle which includes prizes such as weekends away across Ireland and flying lessons, which were kindly donated by Sligo Aviation Club.

The fun starts at 8.30pm and tickets are available through clubmerchandise.ie, Grasshopper, Kevin’s Dry Cleaners and Sparky’s or alternatively you can contact Max’s Godfather Eddie Mooney on 085 2478000.

This will be followed up by a Family Fun Day at Longford Rugby Club on Sunday, October 14th.

Max’s family have thanked close friends Sinead and Sean for all their help in organising the events.

The two-year-old was due to undergo surgery last weekend to the remove the tube which feeds him his medication.

The tube had caused an infection and had to be replaced.
