Four Longford hotels feature in Be Our Guest Guide

by Anita Prunty

Four Longford hotels feature in the latest edition of Be Our Guest, Ireland’s largest tourist accommodation guide. The book was launched at the end of last year to kick start the Irish Hotel Federation’s (IHF) international marketing drive for 2009. The hotels included in the guide were the Richmond Inn Guesthouse, The Annaly Hotel, The Longford Arms Hotel and Viewmount House.

Now in its 22nd edition the guide is renowned as Ireland’s largest tourist accommodation listing, featuring almost 1000 hotels and guesthouses from every county, including four in Co Longford. Over 300,000 guides will be distributed in 22 counties in the coming months, acting as a key marketing tool in promoting Ireland at home and abroad.

Also mentioned in the guide were some hotels in other counties in the area, including Co Cavan, Co Leitrim and Co Westmeath. Some of the hotels listed from these localities were The Breffni Arms Hotel, Cavan; Crover House Hotel & Golf Club, Cavan; Commercial & Tourist Hotel, Leitrim; Ramada Hotel & Suites at Lough Allen, Leitrim; Lough Rynn Castle, Leitrim; Flynn’s Shannon Key West Hotel, Leitrim; Hotel Castlepollard, Westmeath; Bloomfield House Hotel, Westmeath; Greville Arms Hotel, Westmeath and Feerick’s Hotel in nearby Rathowen.

In relation to tourism in Ireland, Matthew Ryan, President, IHF, states, “Ireland will play host to an estimated 7.5 million overseas visitors this year, and the quality of product and experience here is fundamental to the continued prosperity of the sector. As an industry, hotels and guesthouses in Longford continue to deliver the highest standards of service in a highly competitive market. In the current economic climate, it is essential we continue to invest in targeted marketing initiatives to ensure the sustained competitiveness of the industry.”
