Construction of Drumlish sewerage plant welcomed

The commencement of work on a new wastewater treatment plant on the Mohill Road in Drumlish has been welcomed by local councillor, Gerry Brady. It is hoped that the scheme will allow fish life to return to the Black River, which is adjacent to the site.

The plant is one of a number of facilities intended to service the villages of Ardagh, Aughnacliffe, Ballinalee, Drumlish and Newtownforbes.

The contract for the design, build and operation of the plant is for 30 years.

Construction work is also continuing on a 5,000 square meter reservoir at Prucklish, which will include a rising main designed to alleviate ongoing problems in the Drumlish area in recent years.
