Clonfin commemoration

The 92nd commemoration of the Battle of Clonfin will take place at the site between Granard and Ballinalee on February 3 next at 3pm.

Prayers will be offered at 11:30amwith Mass on the day for the souls of all those who who fought during the battle, which ensued on February 2, 1921 when the members of the North Longford Flying Column ambushed a group of Black and Tans who were en route to Granard.

On the day a guest speaker will be present, and there will also be a guard of honour. Music will also be provided for. Refreshments will be served in McElvaney’s following the commemoration and everyone is welcome to attend.
