Chamber and council to join forces

Local politicians are to join forces with Longford town’s main business representative organisation in an effort to continue the largely positive Christmas shopping period enjoyed by retailers.

The announcement was made known at last week’s meeting of Longford Town Council following the council’s receipt of a letter from Chamber President Seamus Butler.

In the correspondence, which was read out by Town Clerk Dan Rooney, Mr Butler said he believed the formation of a such a group should be formed as soon as possible.

Its understood the new working group is to comprise of all nine members of Longford Town Council with meetings taking place on a quarterly basis over the next 12 months.
