Book of condolence opened at Longford Garda Station
A book of condolence has been opened at Longford Station for the late Det Garda Adrian Donohoe (41), the garda who was shot dead in Co Louth last Friday. The book will be open for members of the public to sign until today (Wednesday Jan 30).
Det Garda Adrian Donohoe (41), who was shot dead outside Lordship Credit Union, Bellurgan in Jenkinstown, Dundalk, was a native of Kilnaleck. in Co Cavan. He attended St Pat’s secondary school in Cavan town and was a former Cavan U21 and minor player. He is also nephew of the Leader’s Mullahoran correspondent, Kathleen Donohoe.
Longord Town Mayor, Cllr Peggy Nolan (FG) attended Longford Barracks on Tuesday morning, where she met with Superintendent Shields and passed on her condolences to An Garda Síochána on the death of Garda Donohoe last week.
“Our hearts go out to the family, colleagues and friends of Det Garda Adrain Donohoe,” sai dCllr Nolan. “We are all deeply saddened by his death and I would like to express my sincere sympathy on behalf of myself and the people of Longford town over what has happened.”
The late garda leaves behind his wife Caroline and two children Amy and Niall. He is also survived by his parents Peggy and Hugh; sisters Mary and Anne; brothers Colm, Martin and Alan; brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, parents-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends. He will be buried after a funeral service at St Joseph’s Church, Dundalk on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, a book of condolence will be opened at Longford County Council offices from today (Wednesday).
