With St Valentine’s Day looming, leave it to the romantic souls in Abbeylara GAA to come up with a novel idea to raise funds. The GAA club is hosting a mock wedding this Saturday night, February 9th at 9pm in Crover House Hotel in Mountnugent and the event promises much hilarity, calamity and who knows with the week that’s in it - some loving too! All in all, a good night’s entertainment is guaranteed. A “top table” of local luminaries has been lined up to ensure that this is a wedding like none other.

The event takes place in order to fund the recently laid football pitch and new stand at the GAA pitch in the village. A buffet will be available on the night and a raffle will also take place on the night. Live music on the night will be provided by local band Cheap Whisky.

Whether or not the organisers are hoping that romance will blossom at this very special wedding remains to be seen but the line of that old song springs to mind: “Going to a wedding is the making of another”.

The guest list in increasing by the minute and anyone wishing to attend this salubrious event is urged to contact Mary Ledwith on 087-4187221. Tickets cost €15 each or two for €25. Get your gladrags on and head to Crover House for a wedding that you’ll never forget.
