Local students qualify for Formuala 1 finals

Two County Leitrim secondary schools will take part in the regional finals of this year’s F1 in Schools Technology Challenge which takes place next month at Dublin’s Griffith College Dublin. 
Students from Carrigallen Vocational School and Mohill Community College will look to qualify for the national finals of this year’s competition as they pit their canister powered mini Formula One racing cars against students from across the northern region.

Carrigallen’s ‘Team Grease Lightning’ which is an all-female group and Mohill’s ‘Team Dynamite’ - under the leadership of their engineering teacher qualified for the regional finals which take place on March 8th. The competition is in its sixth year and now attracts over 90,000 young racing enthusiast worldwide.

Both teams will look to impress the panel of judges with their vehicles which will reach speeds of over 350kmph and qualify for the national finals which takes place on April 26th.
