St Patrick’s GAA Club

Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Tuesday, 27th October 2015. The Jackpot was €1,900. Numbers drawn – 7 / 9 / 14 / 22 – no winner. €50 winners – Enda Boylan, Gowna. Sean Reilly, Arva. The Jackpot on Tuesday night last 3rd November was €2,000. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection prior to the draw.

Church Services

For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – this Sunday, 8th November – Remembrance Service and Holy Communion in Carrigallen at 10am and in Arva at 11.30am. Morning Prayer Service in Columbkille at 10am and in Gowna at 11.30am.

First Friday

Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva – The Sick and Housebound will be visited at the usual times on this Friday 6th November (1st Friday) in the Arva / Coronea areas. If anyone is sick at home or in hospital and would like a visit from a priest then please let them know and they will be happy to attend.


Sympathy is extended to Mrs Margaret Dolan, Corhannagh, Arva on the death of her brother, Mr Edward (Eddie) Reilly, Crott, Moyne which occurred recently.

Sympathy is also extended to Mrs Mary Finnegan, Castlepoles, Arva on the death of her mother, Mrs Patricia Reilly, Drung which occurred last week.


Arva Parish church held their annual concert on Friday night last in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. There was a great attendance and everyone present enjoyed a good night’s craic.

Active Age

The 10am Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva on this Friday morning (1st Friday) is being offered for deceased members of Arva Active Age and this will be followed by the Coffee morning in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. All members are requested to attend and new members always welcome. Deposits for Trip to Liffey Valley on Wednesday 18th November will be taken after the Coffee Morning. Anyone interested in travelling contact Breege 087 2989484, Ethel 086 0829592 or Mary 08603795457 – Cost is £30 for members and £35 non members. Gentle Exercises and crafts continue in St. Patrick’s Hall, Arva every Tuesday morning from 10.00am to 12.00 noon. New members welcome.

L. C. Fitness

Classes have moved to St Patricks Hall, Arva. We cater to all levels of Fitness & Have Fun. Pay as you go - no Booking required. Classes take Place every Tuesday & Thursday evening 8pm to 9pm. For further details contact Lynn Tel: 085 734 1992.

Garden Club

Next meeting is on Wednesday, 11th November in Teach Duchais, Drumeela at 8:30pm (note that due to the time change, monthly Garden Club meetings will take place at the earlier time of 8:30pm for the winter months). Guest speaker this month is Gail Quinn from the Four Seasons Garden Centre in Ballinamore. Gail is a very knowledgeable and popular speaker at Drumeela Garden Club and has previously given very informative talks on a wide range of topics, this month she will talk on ‘Selecting and Caring for Houseplants’, and she will have a question and answer session after her talk, where she will advise on any houseplant or garden problems. Gail will also have a selection of plants and other stock for sale, and will be offering a discount to attendees on the night. All are welcome to attend, club membership is available for €15 for the year which includes entrance to all monthly meetings, or visitors can attend for €3 per night. Tea and refreshments are included, a raffle will take place on the night and everybody is welcome to attend.

Development Association

Will hold their annual general Meeting on Monday night next, 9th November at 8.30pm in The Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. All members please attend and new members are welcome.


On behalf of the community, we thank Councillor Winston Bennett for his representations on our behalf to get the road from the Church past the football field resurfaced. We also thank our new Area Engineer, Kevin Sexton and all the staff in Cavan County Council.


The Gallant 15km Challenge – committee would like to thank everybody who supported our recent draw in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice, Cavan.
