Longford Palliative Homecare

Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Siobhán McGowan, Lismore House, Newtownforbes and Brian Brady, Killoe who got married last week. We wish the newly weds a long healthy and happy life together.

Community Meeting

We are pleased to announce that Longford will host one of Bank of Ireland’s Enterprise Towns for 2015. Through this initiative Bank of Ireland and the Longford business community are working together to support local business. In addition we will involve the wider community and our local schools through a range of different activities. To hear more about the plans for your Enterprise Town and/or to get involved – Please join us in the Longford Arms Hotel next Thursday 29th October at 6.30pm.

Fright Fest Fancy Dress Fundraiser

Complex, Newtownforbes, on Saturday 31st October 5pm to 8pm. Admission kids €5, Adults Free. Music, face painting, games, etc. Prize for best dressed boy/girl. Refreshments served. All proceeds donated to The Miscarriage Association of Ireland. This is a great night for all the family please support. Fancy dress for adults on Saturday night 31st October in McGowans Bar. Music and lots of fun promised on the night.

Craft Fair

Our 2nd annual pre Christmas craft and artisan fair will take place on Sunday 22nd November in GAA complex, Newtownforbes from 11am to 4pm. This year the fair will be in aid of Longford Mental Health Association and AMA Ireland. Tables are limited and spaces are filling up fast. The local ICA Guild is holding an Information night in the Parish Hall, Newtownforbes Tuesday, 27th October at 8.30pm. There will be a display of arts, crafts and produce. Refreshments will be served. Come along and meet the members for an insight into ICA. You will have an opportunity to learn more about how the ICA activities and skills fit into our modern world.

The Parish Pastoral Council has decided to set up a Parish Website. They would be happy to hear from anyone in the Parish who has expertise in this work.

Benefit Dance

A Benefit night for the family of the late Sean Mulligan, Ballinamuck will take place in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva on Monday 16th November 2015. Tickets cost €10 each - the committee will be out selling tickets over the next few weeks and your support will be very much appreciated.  

Four in a Row Celebrations

Clonguish are still the only Club in County Longford to have brought home the Sean Connolly Cup four years in a row by winning the Longford Senior Football Championship in 1962,1963,1964 and 1965. A major event to mark the 50th Anniversary of this remarkable achievement will be held in the P.J. Murphy Memorial Hall on Saturday 7th November 2015. A full four course meal will be served and the event will be fully licensed. Music will be provided by Aftermath. As there is massive interest in the event and as capacity is limited it is important that you book your tickets immediately with Catherine Faughnan (087 9956496) or Donna Hagan (086 8855158). Tickets are keenly priced at €25 each.
