The annual Novena commences on this Wednesday evening 28th October at 7.30pm in St. Mary’s Church, Granard and continues for 9 Wednesday nights. Everyone is invited and encouraged to take part in this well established event.
Granard Christmas Lights Committee are hosting a Halloween Fancy Dress on this Saturday, 31st October (Halloween Night) in Fay’s Bar, Granard. Prize for best costume. Lots of Halloween novelty games with live DJ and finger food. A great night not to be missed. Annual Christmas Lights draw will also take place same night. Tickets are currently on sale in all outlets in town at €5 each. First Prize €500; Second Prize €300 and Third €200.
As discussed at October meeting will all members who expressed interest in making calico dolls for the National Children’s Hospital project and other children’s hospitals please meet at Rath Mhuire Resource Centre on this Thursday, 29th October at 8.00pm. The next guild meeting will be held on Thursday 5th November at the Credit Union Seminar Room. Guest speaker for the meeting will be from Citizens Information Services Longford. The St. Vincent de Paul Shop Main Street Granard opens each Monday morning from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Every Friday 10.00am to 5.00pm and Saturday from 11.00am to 5.00pm as well as the first Tuesday of each month. Come along and bag a bargain while supporting a very worthy local cause.

Siopa Lus na Greine
Our Siopa is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10am – 5pm. Thank you for your continued support. We welcome your cast offs, bric –a – brac etc. these can be dropped into An Siopa. All proceeds from An Siopa go directly to the Centre to fund projects in the Community.
TÍR NA NÓG Macra Longford in collaboration with Lus na Greine FRC are currently conducting a fundraiser based on when the first try will be scored in the Rugby World Cup Final on Saturday 31st October. Scratch cards €2 each or 3 for €5 will predict what second the first try may take place.
Sympathy is extended to the brothers, sister, relatives and friends of the late Sean Kiernan, Aughnacliff and formerly of Cartronmarkey, Granard who died at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore on 15th October following a brief illness. His body reposed at Our Lady’s Manor, Edgeworthstown on Friday, 16th October followed by removal to St. Joseph’s Church, Purth. Funeral Mass was celebrated on the Saturday followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.
