A reminder to motorists that children are on half term from Friday and everyone needs to be extra careful. Children should be wearing helmets and high visibility jackets when cycling and should not play on the road. The evenings are getting very dark and dangerous, so the message from the RSA is Be Safe, Be Seen.

Tidy Towns

Annual general meeting of Drumlish Tidy Towns takes place this Thursday 22nd at 7.30pm in the Community Centre - Please support! We had a very fine presentation by Fr. Liam Courtney on the life of Dr. William O’Higgins, Bishop of Ardagh & Clonmacnoise  (1829 -1853) to a good gathering. William O’Higgins was youngest of a family 13 and born 4 years before the 1798 rebellion at a time of great poverty and a time of huge suppression of Catholicism - the lecture /talk certainly brought his life and times alive to the gathered audience and with enough interest it may be possible to mark his memory with a more permanent memorial in this village in due course that will connect his birthplace (Drumlish) with that ‘glorious undertaking’ - St. Mel’s Cathedral.

Annual Mass for Deceased members of the Pioneers will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Drumlish on Friday, 20th November at 8p.m
