Mass for all who have died in our Parish since November 2014, for those who have died outside our Parish but with family living in our Parish and for former parishioners who died in the last year or so, will be offered on Friday 27 November in Abbeylara Church at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served after Mass in our New Parish Centre, Abbeylara. You are very welcome to Holy Mass and refreshments.
Enrolment for the Sacrament of Confirmation will be held on Saturday, 28 November in Abbeylara Church at Holy Mass at 7.30pm.
Enrolment for the Sacraments of First Confession, First Holy Communion and Confirmation will be held on Sunday, 29 November in Carra Church at Holy Mass at 9.30am.
Abbeylara Gun Club is holding their annual Christmas Draw and Party in Crawford’s Lounge on Saturday, 19 December, music on the night is by Na Fianna. Tickets for their draw are now on sale by club members and in local shops, 1st prize €300, 2nd prize €200, 3rd prize €100 and 4th prize €50; tickets cost €2 each or 3 for €5. Your support will be appreciated.

Our Auction which was held on Saturday, 7 November at the Handball Sports Complex, Abbeylara has now realized a profit of €3,202.20. Thanks very much too each person that helped in any way to make our Auction so successful, which is very much appreciated. All proceeds for our new Parish Centre, Abbeylara.

Keep Saturday night 5 December free and come along to The Boomerang Lounge in Granard, where acclaimed poet Noel Monahan will launch a book of Short Stories by local author Thomas Kiernan, formerly of Granard. The book is entitled American Cousin and is Thomas’s third book. Finger food and wine on the night and everybody invited. We look forward to seeing you there.
Granard Area Action Group Ltd. is holding their annual Table Quiz in Fay’s Bar on Friday, 4 December at 9pm. This is well established event and always an enjoyable night. Granard Area Action Group is sponsors of the local Community Employment Project that takes in the parishes of Abbeylara Granard and Mullinalaghta. The annual Table Quiz helps to defray costs of sponsoring the project. As this is the only public fundraiser held during the year the group will greatly appreciate the support of all local community groups and sub-sponsors.
A Front Office Reception Skills Course will be starting in Lus Na Greine Family Resource Centre shortly. The course will offer a significant advantage for those seeking employment or upskilling in the field of administration, office work and reception duties, to book a place please drop into the centre.

Our Christmas Raffle and Party will be held in Crawford’s Lounge on Saturday, 12 December. Lines are now being sold by our members around the parish and in shops in Granard. New Boxes of Offertory Envelopes 2015/16 are available now at the front of both Abbeylara and Carra Church. You will need your first new offertory envelope for Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, the first weekend of Advent. Once again thank you very much for your ongoing generous financial support to the offertory and other collections. It is very much appreciated. Calling on local businesses and craft people! The traditional Christmas will take place on Sunday, 6 December from 2.00pm to 5pm. Everyone welcome on the day. We will also have our unique live crib and switching on of Christmas lights. And of course Santa will arrive. Exhibitors are required to set up their own stall and have their own insurance cover.
