Mass will be celebrated in the New Cemetery in Granardkille on Sunday 26 July at 1.00pm and in the old Cemetery Granardkille on Sunday 2 August at 11.30am.
Colmcille Ploughing Association is holding their annual ploughing and field day on Sunday 30 August on the lands of the Bleakley Family, Smear. In conjunction with the normal ploughing and side shows there will be an open day in Bleakley’s Mill, where people can witness for themselves how the mill worked and gain a piece of history from days gone by. It promises to be a great family fun day for everyone so make sure and come along!
An opportunity to socialise and take a couple of happy hours out will take place in Lus na Greine Resource Centre Granard on Friday, 24 July in the Centre’s Garden at approximately 12 noon until 2pm. We will have music, finger food and a chance to enjoy the outdoors and chat to neighbours and friends. All welcome!

The annual Rosie Run in aid of Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA) will take place from Loch Gowna on Sunday, 19 July commencing at 1.30pm. Registration will take place in Lough Gowna Community Centre from 12 noon on the day and refreshments will be served in the hall after the event with prizes also presented on the day. We appeal to all to come out and support this worthy cause.

It’s that time of year again. The village is looking well and a special thanks to all the local residents who are out making sure their premises are not going to lose us points. Every little thing out of place will cost us points. Thanks to the Community Employment workers and the TUS workers for the ongoing work in our Village. It is very important to keep our village litter free, if you see it, bin it.

Memorial Tractor Run
Philip Sorohan Memorial Tractor Run will take place on Sunday 19 July 2015, all proceeds to “Kevin Bell Foundation”. Registration will take place at Dillon’s Bar and Bistro at 10.30am sharp with refreshments served, the run will be approximately 20 miles, then dinner will be served in Dillon’s Bar and Bistro. The Annual Breffni 3 Province Challenge, Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, 20K will take place this year on Saturday, 1 August with the proceeds going as usual to St. Luke’s Hospital for Cancer Cure, Care and Control, N.B.C.R.I. (National Breast Cancer Research Institute), and Galway and Cavan/Monaghan Cancer Homecare.

Gun Club AGM
The Club held their annual general meeting on Friday night, 3 July in the shooting grounds Derragh. The Chairman Michael Barber thanked all who attended the meeting. A special word of thanks to the local farmers and landowners for their co-operation during the year and also to the business people who sponsored our open clay bird shoot recently and all those who supported the club during the year. The following officers were elected on the night President: Dan O’Driscoll, Chairman: Michael Barber, Vice Chairman: P.J. Reilly, Secretary: Ciaran McGivney, Treasurers: Phil Donohue and Padraigh Monaghan, Safety Officer: John Crudden, Delegates to Longford Shooting and Conservation Council: John Flynn and Dessie Flynn and Vermin Control Officers: Richard Flynn and Jimmy Garvey. Any members who did not attend the meeting please pay their compensation cover and membership fee immediately as it is now due to the sectary Ciaran McGivney. A vote of sympathy was passed on the night for all families who had bereavement in the parish during the year.

Granard Visitor Centre Project will hold a public meeting on Tuesday night next, July 21 at 8.30pm in our new buildings at Rathcronan (opposite Kearney’s). We will also be having our monthly draws for June and July on the night.
