The monthly meeting of the guild takes place on Thursday, 5 March at 8pm in the Seminar Room of Granard Credit Union. Entrance at the rear of the building through Car Park. A guest speaker of RSA (Road Safety Authority) will attend. Everyone welcome. Hostesses Frances and Liz.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics Ireland urgently requires volunteers in the Longford area to help with our charity Collection Day on Friday, 24 April. Collection Day is the biggest annual fundraising event in aid of Special Olympics Ireland. The money raised on the day will be used to ensure that Special Olympics Ireland can continue to realise its promise of offering people with an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in sport in their area. Special Olympics Ireland is looking for volunteers across the day, so if you can commit to the full day or even just an hour, please contact Michael Carty on 085 1678768 or email Michael.carty@specialolympics.ie

Rath Mhuire Men’s Social Club - Meeting Dates: March Tuesday: 3rd and 31st at 12.30pm – Rath Mhuire Resource Centre. The club provides a great space for lots of activities, trips, as well as good company and good food.

Rath Mhuire Centre - Granard Writers - Meeting Date: February Monday 23rd at 11.30pm – Rath Mhuire Resource Centre. Our aim is to promote creative writing in an enjoyable and relaxed environment and new members are always welcome.

Historical Society

Meeting Date: Thursday February March 12 at 8.00pm and we will be holding a John McCormack evening in Granard Community Library. Further details in the next bulletin. There has been a fantastic response and interest in the Historical Society and we are planning a range of events for 2015. If you are in anyway interested in your local history and heritage, we would be delighted if you would come along and join us.

Dolmen Centre

All groups have now recommenced at the Dolmen Centre and have a range of activities and social events happening in the coming months, including visit from the Community Physiotherapist and an outing to the Backstage Theatre. New members are very welcome. Dolmen Failte Active Retirement Group

Arthritis Longford Branch

We are running the following courses which are adapted exercises suitable for people with arthritis or other limitations: “Chair Yoga” New course Wednesday 25 February at 11am in the Family Centre Longford. 6 sessions for €50. Glotto draw

Lourdes Pilgrimage

The annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes takes place from Wednesday 27 May to Monday 01 June 2015. Departing from Knock Airport. Assisted pilgrims wishing to travel should contact their local parish priest. We welcome your cast offs ,bric-a-brac etc. you can drop them into the shop on Main Street any Thursday, Friday or Saturday between 10am and 5.00pm or to the Centre Monday to Friday. We have a lovely range of children’s clothes now in stock all sizes, also just arrived ladies trouser suits, suitable for the office at knock down prices. Lots of men’s clothing all sizes. Pop in and have a browse at your ease. All proceeds from the shop goes directly to The Family Resource Centre to fund projects in the Community.
