The death occurred last week of Phil McGahern, Loughdavan. Deceased who was aged 77 was a quiet and inoffensive person and had been a resident in Lisdarn Unit for The Elderly for over 20 years. Following the death of his parents in 1981 and 1988 the closely knit Lisdarn community became his second home and members of the community were present at his funeral. The requiem Mass was celebrated by Canon Owen Devaney P.P. in St. Joseph’s Church, Loughduff on Friday last and burial took place to local cemetery. We extend our sympathy to his cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends in Lisdarn. May he rest in peace.

Is extended to the wife and family of the late Barney Brady, Potahee who passed away recently. Barney was an integral part of the Ballintemple community and he will be sadly missed by his loving family,neighbours and friends. Smypathy is also expressed to the Cullen family, Corr on the death of their mother Mae. She had reached the grand old age of 97 and the untimely death of her son Kevin only a few weeks ago was a severe blow to her. May they rest in peace.

The annual Traditional Irish concert will be held in the Parochial hall on Sunday evening, 1st March next from 6 – 10pm. A host of top class artists from all over the country will perform, proceeds to the foreign missions. Tickets will be on sale locally or pay at door. As usual a great night’s entertainment is assured.
