Thanks from GAA
Abbeylara G.F.C wish to sincerely thank everybody who helped to make our fun day on Sunday 28 last such an outstanding success. To the two football teams who treated us to an outstanding and entertaining game, to the refereeing Ned Monaghan who did an excellent job on the day, to all the young and not so young who participated in the various races and events, to the children who entered the fancy dress competition and to our judge on the day, to the people who organised and ran the various side shows, to T.J Donohoe for the use of his sound equipment and for acting M.C on the day, to Barney and Irene for the great food, to our very kind and generous sponsors, to everyone else involved in such a great display of Community Spirit. Lastly but not least to everyone who came along and supported us on the day.
Temple Street & 4x4 Challenge
David Feely would like to thank the local community for their support and to the many people that came to their fundraising night in Crawford’s Bar on 13 September last. Between the Raffle and the night in Crawford’s we came home with €1800 which was a great return on our night. The crowd were fantastic and the support was something else. A big thank you has to go to Mary Brady, Cooldoney for her outstanding efforts. Mary sold raffle lines everywhere and only for her that amount would be €600 less. Our Raffle went as follows; Hamper, Brendan Tully, Bottle of Whiskey, Mrs Fitzsgibbons, Carra, Bottle of Wine, Donie Reilly, Tool Hire, Bottle of wine, Francis Brady, Springtown. Thankfully all prizes went locally & I think Mary Brady sold them all. Sincere thanks to the following you gave us spot prizes, Kiernan Milling, ROR, Crawfords, and P.J. Reilly to name a few. Also we received sponsorship from Pat The Baker. However if it were not for the support of the people of Granard, Abbeylara and surrounding areas the event would not have been a success. To date we have sent almost €3500 to Temple Street and maybe finishing at closer to €4000. This €3500 also includes money raised last May in Lisryan. We are still amazed at the support we had. Everyone has been so generous this year and once again sincere thanks to you all!
We send our best wishes to Colm Dalton, Dalystown who hit off to England to start new employment there. Best of luck Colm!!
