St. Barry’s Half Marathon
Its that time of year again, St. Barry’s GAA marathon and half marathon. It all takes place on Sunday, 12th October, commencing at 10.45am. Walkers will also be welcome. This is a great annual event and draws considerable support from across Ireland. Refreshments served in St. Barry’s Hall after the event.
Morning and evenings are closing in, getting dark, therefore, we need to be more focused as we walk, cycle or drive on our roads. Proper clothing and lighting if you are walking or cycling. Make sure your vehicle has all lights working properly and please use your lights morning and evening particularly if days are overcast and dreary. Many of our roads are narrow and the utmost care and attention is needed.
Feile Strokestown will take place in the town of Strokestown on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10th, 11th, 12th October. Dancing competitions, CD Launches, music in the pubs and Sean Nos dancing competitions etc. Sean Nos dancing competition from 11am on Saturday at Percy French Hotel. Promises to be a great weekend.
Lisa in Face of Ireland Final
Lisa McGowan, Cloonshannagh, Ruskey is in the final of Face of Ireland and wishes to thank all of the people for their help with the recent functions held in the region. Also she wants to thank all of those who have made financial contributions by buying tickets for the even at Longford Greyhound track and the tractor run.Good luck Lisa.
We extend sympathy to the Casserly family, Ballytouhy, Scramogue and Tulsk on the death of Pat Casserly, London and formerly Tarmonbarry. Pat was an extensive business man and we will have a major article in the coming weeks. May he rest in peace.

Adoraration of the Blessed Sacrament in St. Anne’s Church, Scramogue takes place on Friday evenings between 6.45pm to 7.45pm.
Tarmonbarry/Scramogue Community Cycle every Monday evening at 7pm, leaving from Centra. All are most welcome to get involved in this cycle. This is not a competitive cycle and there is no fee. Please note change of time.

Full Fetac Level 5 in Health Care required with a clean driving licence. Applicants must supply suitable character references and be prepared to complete Garda vetting.
