The 6pm Vigil Mass this Saturday, 11th will be in memory of the late Michael & Annie Reilly, Coolamber.


We extend sincere sympathy to Johnny (Kiddy) and Mickey Kiernan on the death in England of their brother, Paddy who died suddenly in England where his funeral will take place. Paddy was predeceased by his wife and is survived by his daughter and grandchildren. May he rest in peace.


At a special music function held in Feerick’s Hotel, Rathowen on Saturday, 27th September, presentations were made by Streete Parish Park Vintage to this year’s selected participants. On behalf of Streete Parish Park Vintage, John Parker and young Niall Moran, youngest son of Nora and the late Philip presented a cheque for €1,000 to Mairead Mee, Regional Manager of the Irish Heart Foundation which was the choice of the Moran family. Also a cheque for €1,000 was presented to our local St. Fintan’s National School Parents Group to go towards the new extension to the car park and some other improvements. This cheque was accepted by Parents Group Secretary, Stephanie McClean. The group Chairperson, Liz Coade sent an apology, due to having the flu. Thanks to Fr. Joe McGrath who also attended. A very successful raffle followed for prizes which were donated and we wish to thank all the donors. A special prize was made and donated by local lady, Jeanette Everson which was the first prize and was won by Mrs. Linda Butler, Streete. We thank Lily Parker, Marie Keary and Alice Nerney who sold tickets on the night. A special thanks also to John Feerick who hosted the night including finger food for all. Music was by Geraldine and Misty Midlands with guest, Kevin Kilbane who sang, danced and sent everyone home smiling. As chairman of Streete Parish Park we were glad to help out and thank all who drove tractors in the Philip Moran Memorial Tractor Run and all who attended and helped on Vintage Day.


The numbers drawn in last week’s Streete Parish Park Lotto were 3, 4, 11, and 14. There was no winner of the jackpot which will now increase to €4,800 at the draw next Monday. The three €40 winners were: - Geraldine Keary, Pat & Kirsten McGivern, Streete & Australia; Michael McCormack, Mostrim. Thanks for your support. Remember you must be in to win.


Please support church gate collection in Boherquill this Saturday, 11th in aid of Plan Ireland who do so much for so many in less fortunate parts of the world.

Irish Wheelchair

Maureen, from the Irish Wheelchair Association phoned the writer to say a sincere thank you to all who supported the recent church gate collection in Boherquill and to thank Margaret Tighe who did the collection. The amount collected in Boherquill was €101.50 and the total collected in County Westmeath was €8,500 which was great and shows how many small collections add up to a great total.

It is great to see the Walkway at Streete Parish Park being used from around 8a.m. to 10p.m. seven days a week. The lights are on until 10p.m. and all are welcome to avail of this great facility where everyone is safe and away from traffic. We do ask that people try to buy a lotto envelope - €2 each or €5 for three envelopes in same draw or an annual envelope for €50. We depend on support to pay electricity, oil etc. Now is the time to prepare your body to fight colds and flu etc. for the winter. Harvest Thanksgiving

Service takes place in St. James’s church, Streete and an invitation has been given to the writer to say the church members would welcome all who can attend to come along. The service is at 3.30p.m. on Sunday, 12th October. Everybody very welcome.

Wildlife Club

Boherquill Ramblers

The trail around the Upper and Lower Bohernabreena Reservoirs near Tallaght in Dublin is a popular destination for west Dublin locals looking for some exercise and they were joined by the Ramblers on Sunday September 28th for a walk led by Rambler Mary McHugh and her brother Francis. Refreshments in the Cafe at the Kiltipper Care Centre fortified the walkers for the 7km loop walk around the two reservoirs which are set in a beautiful peaceful valley in the Dublin Mountains. Thank you to Mary and Francis for leading the afternoon’s walk. The Ramblers will walk the section of the branch canal from Longford to Killashee on Sunday October 12th. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at Longford Railway Station at 2pm.

Reservations are being taken for the trip to the Lough Allen Hotel in Drumshanbo from Friday October 17th to Sunday the 19th. Irish Heart Foundation

The Irish heart foundation road show bus will visit Streete Parish park next Friday, 10th October from 2.30 to 6pm, the bus staffed by IHF nurses will check your Blood Pressure and offer free advice to maintaining good heart health. The service is FREE and will only take up about 10 minutes of your time We urge people to avail of this opportunity, all welcome
